Blazer Baseball traveled to Saint Stephen's to take on the Falcons on Thursday night. The Blazers started things off with three runs in the first and it ended up being enough as
Collin Lawson held the Falcons to just three hits and one run in the game, earning his second straight victory on the mound.
The Blazers started out the top of the first inning with a
Justin Brock single and with
Rowan Baum reaching on an error. Then Evan Posnanski drilled a ball over the center field fence to give the Blazers the early 3-0 lead. Both teams traded runs over the next two half innings, bringing the score to 4-1 Blazers after Poznanski would launch a double to the center field fence to drive in Baum. The Blazers would score two more runs as
Justin Brock would come up to the plate with the bases loaded and drive a 2 RBI double to right field, pushing the lead to 5. The final run for the Blazers would come as
Will Papineau would singe on a grounder to the shortstop, scoring
Hayden Rogers and putting a cap on the game as the Blazers would go on to win 7-1.
Poznanski would lead the way at the plate, going 2-2 in the game and bringing in 4 RBI's.
Justin Brock would go 3-4, bringing in two runs. On the mound, Lawson would strike out 7 and only allow five base runners, limiting the Falcons to just the one run in the first inning.
The Blazers will host the WCAC tournament this weekend on Friday and Saturday, playing host to #1 seed Sarasota Military Academy, #3 seed Lakewood Ranch Prep, and #4 seed The Classical Academy of Sarasota.
